56 of 70: Whitetail Crossing Golf Club, Mundare, AB

Whitetail Crossing Golf Club is another Puddicombe Golf creation: the same people who brought you Redtail Landing in Edmonton and Coal Creek which we played two weeks ago. Mundare being predominantly an agricultural area, Puddicombe kept the old farm building and equipment to link present day Mundare to a not so distant past, just as Coal Creek is linked to its mining history.

Mundare is just over an hour east of Edmonton and Whitetail Crossing is well worth the drive. It is a fairly difficult golf course due to an exhorbitant amount of wetlands, fields of fescue and a challenging design, particularly on the back nine. At this time it still plays in fairly natural surroundings which is rather pleasant but, and there is a but, the master plan calls for some 600 residential lots of which only very few have been built. I am looking forward to playing it again next summer. As for the wildlife, it is fast disappearing south ... Let's enjoy what we have left. Click on the small pictures for a larger version.
