The strangest example of wildlife was seen on the street on the way home from the course. Not halloween yet, but we did have a full moon that night. |

Ironhead is not an easy golf course. The first hole, for example, is a tough par 5; your tee shot has to negotiate a narrow opening set between two ponds and a handfull of bunkers and on your approach shot you have to fly the green over a monstrous bunker on the right. The fairways are well maintained but you need a very long carry to find them, even from the red tees as seen here. The rough is obviously penalizing but fair. The ladies, however, are not given many concessions and often have to take a second shot to find the short grass.
We had a lovely time out there and ended up with more than 50 pictures. As I said before, we had the course all to ourselves, stopped for lunch between nines and took time to take all the pictures we wanted. On the tenth fairway I enjoyed watching the geese against the wild background of the pond. On the numerous ponds throughout the course we also observed some ducks but they moved so fast that it was difficult to get great pictures. However, Brenda did get a few shots of some female European Widgeons.
